I’ll be honest — AVI-8 has never really been my go-to brand. I’ve always appreciated their aviation storytelling, but many of their watches felt a bit too busy for my taste. Too many elements on the dial, too much going on visually. It looked interesting, but not always something I’d want to wear every day.
That changed with this model.
The first thing that stood out to me was how clean the design felt. It still carries that aviation DNA, but in a much more refined and balanced way. The dial is easy to read, with just enough detail to feel unique without becoming overwhelming. It reminds me more of newer releases like the AVI-8 Spitfire Lock Chronograph or the Hawker Hurricane Classic Chronograph, where the design feels much more controlled and wearable compared to older models.

The build quality also feels like a step up. It doesn’t try to compete with luxury watches, but for the price, the finishing is solid and the overall feel is more premium than expected. You can see this clearly in models like the Hawker Hunter Retrograde Chronograph or the Harrier Farley Multifunction, which combine bold aviation design with better usability.
What I appreciate most is that this piece feels like a shift in direction for Avi-8. It’s more mature, more restrained, and honestly more appealing to a wider audience. It keeps the aviation inspiration, but makes it practical and wearable. Even their newer collaborations like the AVI-8 x Snoopy Flying Ace Limited Edition show this balance between storytelling and design clarity.
Is it perfect? Not quite. There are still small compromises, as you’d expect at this price point. But overall, this is the first Avi-8 watch I can genuinely recommend — especially if you like aviation-inspired designs but want something cleaner and more versatile.
